Welcome! My name is Mónika Lilit Szirmai, and I am a painter.
My work explores the visual expression of inner experiences, emotional states, and intuitive creative processes. Rather than telling stories or depicting external reality, my paintings open a space into inner worlds, inviting viewers to connect through emotions, moods, and personal experiences.
Over the years, I have developed my own intuitive artistic approach and a distinctive visual language, where colour, organic forms, and direct finger painting come together to shape the unique character of my work.
The majority of my paintings are created with oil paints, although I occasionally work with acrylics as well.
Instead of using brushes, I paint directly with my fingers, allowing me to maintain the closest possible connection with both the canvas and the emerging artwork. This directness is an essential part of my artistic practice. Rather than following pre-planned compositions, I allow intuition to guide the entire creative process. Each painting evolves layer by layer until it reaches its own harmonious and independent form.
My paintings are born from the meeting of paint, touch, and intuition. For me, colour is far more than an aesthetic element—it is the fundamental force that shapes the composition.
My work is characterised by a rich colour palette and organic forms. At times, abstract compositions naturally give way to subtle figurative elements that become an integral part of the painting rather than serving an illustrative purpose.
I believe that a painting has the power to shape the atmosphere of a space for many years. My intuitive works do not seek to convey fixed meanings. Instead, they invite contemplation, personal connection, and inner dialogue, leaving space for each viewer to discover their own experience within the painting.
